One more sleep till Santa

IMG_0162

Christmas Eve is here and although Santa won’t have time on this, his busiest day of the year, to stop off at Santa’s Pub in London, it seemed a fitting picture for today. Happy Christmas one and all!

Mulling it over

IMG_0155

Just what you need when the cold wind doth blow – a generous glug of mulled wine to warm the cockles. In Hyde Park at the moment there are stalls at the Christmas market selling red and white mulled wine, mulled cider, mead (honey wine) and another drink that’s a mixture of mead and cherry liqueur called ‘Viking’s Blood’…

All the fun of the fair

A group of thrill-seekers enjoy the excitement (or is it terror?!) of a fairground roller coaster at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

London’s sparkling Christmas market

A large Ferris wheel has become a familiar landmark on the Hyde Park skyline during the annual Christmas fair, Winter Wonderland, held in the park during December and early January. There are also lots of German-style wooden stalls, selling seasonal gifts and festive food and drink.

His wurst is the best

Great-tasting bratwursts being cooked at this food stall in Hyde Park today. Best served with a dollop each of mustard and ketchup.

It’s eggs-treme

A stack of egg-shaped sweets on a stall at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park – clearly a great place to go if you’ve got a sweet tooth!

Winter’s day at the Diana Fountain

Long winter shadows stretch across the grass area surrounding the Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, as a few tourists inspect the fountain up close.

A blue sky day

The man in the cap

Wrapped up warm on another chilly day, a mysterious man in a cap walks past the Lido.

Glorious winter day

Another beautiful winter’s day in London – just perfect for a walk around the Serpentine this lunchtime. The deep blue sky overhead was matched by the still blue water of the lake by the Serpentine Bridge.
